Students at Oakbank helped save the world from poverty by making and eating pancakes this Tuesday. Shinfield Community Church teamed up with Bright Hope and St.Mary's churches to support students in a fundraising activity. The students made and sold pancakes in aid of toilet twinning. This is a scheme to empower communities to build loos that improve health and reduce the risk of sexual attack as girls walk away from the safety of their home to relieve themselves. Oakbank students raised enough for almost four toilets by eating over 200 pancakes! It was a delight to work with the students who were helpful, polite and keen to get involved to help the 1.7 billion who don't have a safe hygienic loo.
